Terrific Times Tables Journey

Kia ora koutou.

At the start of 2023, I was on my 3x Tables. I have worked pretty hard this year and now I am on the ➗ 4.

In our hub we work on the times tables in this order:

x2, x5, x10, x3, x4, x6, x7, x8, x9, x11, x12. We do the same order for division.

Here is an example of some of my online work:

My goal is: to be on ➗8 by the end of the year.

My Wonderful Writing

Kia ora koutou.

Today, I am sharing a piece of my writing that I think shows some of my best work. I am proud of this because I think I have used some great descriptive words. I used this image prompt for my writing.

The invisible Man i so I went to him i don’t see him so and i wavered  to him i don’t see him i went to see him  he was walking  down the street . so i  . walked to him  and he came to me so he is not invisible!

My next step in Writing is to use a capital I when it is on its own.

Natania’s Values

Natania recently completed this Google drawing to show the thoughts that we should keep with us. These thoughts are our positive ones. We did this task when our values focus was Keep a Positive Attitude.

It would be such a great world if people all held on to their positive thoughts and not the negative ones. Do you have any good ideas for other positive thoughts we can add?

Our next step for this area of learning is to have all of our hub improve on their first attempt by having another go of this Kahoot!

Right On

Doing the Right Thing at the Right Time

Today we looked at our value for this week by identifying situations and times throughout the school day when we need to show our Value of doing the right thing at the right time and place.

This is a collection of our ideas:

Words From Kid President

Things We Should Say More Often

To finish our week of focusing on the value of Use Kind Words and Actions, we watched a YouTube clip from an old favourite, Kid President.  In this clip, he lists 20 things we should say more often.  (The patero part got a few laughs).

We then created a list of some of the things we think we should say more often and students chose their top five to record in their Topics books.

Our next step is to create opportunities to say these things to each other.

These are our ideas:

Do Unto Others

Don’t Treat Me This Way

In our discussions about using kind words and actions, we viewed the story, The Golden Rule.

From viewing this book, we had a discussion about what it means to treat others the way you want to be treated.  Our discussion went into the ways we don’t like being treated and how this can help us to remember not to treat others in these ways.

The main part of our discussion was about name-calling.  We shared some really upsetting things about the names that we have been called throughout our lives.  It was really sad hearing what people have been called and we could all empathise with how name-calling makes us feel.

We are going to make an effort to make sure we are not the ones to be hurting each other.

This is a list of ways we don’t like to be treated:
